1887年6月20日に行われたイギリス🇬🇧Victoria女王の戴冠から50年を記念する式典にKalakaua王の代理としてLiliʻuokalani とQueen Kapiʻolaniが出席した際、Victoria女王の神々しさに感動し、宿泊していたホテルに帰ってすぐに書き上げた、とされるLili’uokalaniからVictoria 女王へのお手紙✉️それを後にハワイ語訳したものが、このQueens Jubileeです💛
Weldon氏の伸びのある歌声で歌われているこのMele😍踊っていると、まるでLiliʻuokalaniが見ていた光景が目の前に現れるようです✨

When Liliʻuokalani and Queen Kapiʻolani attended the Queen Victoria's Golden jubilee on June 20, 1887 on behalf of King Kalākaua, Liliʻuokalani was moved by Queen Victoria's divinity. This mele is originaly a letter from Lili'uokalani to Queen Victoria that is said to have been written immediately after returning to the hotel where she had been staying. And later translated into Hawaiian.
This Mele is sung by Mr. Weldon with his smooth voice😍When you dance, it's as if the scene Liliʻuokalani was watching appears before your eyes✨

1988年3月、Oʻahu 島Kailua地区のゴミ処理場で見つかったHawaiʻiの歴史上とても重要なHeiau、Pahukiniが、様々な方の努力で守られた、Hawaiʻiの人々の努力がやっと報われた、お祝いが行われました✨

Pahukiniとは何千ものPahuという意味。
ココはHawaiʻiの大地にやってきたPahuが初めて演奏された場所🙌歴史上とても大切なHeiauです。

このHeiauでのお祝いにはたくさんのHula Hālauが招待され、そこでみんなでPahuを演奏し、このHaʻaheo PahukiniをChantしたそうです🥰

このChantはPuakea Nogelmeierさんが作詞した物。
わたしのKumuはこの時、私にとってKumu NuiとなるAuntie Laniの横で、Pahuを演奏していました。

後に、Kumu Puakeaに許可をとり、PūniuとPahuを使うHula nohoをKumuが振り付けしました💛

Chantしてるだけで、その日の人々の喜びが、身体の中に湧き上がってくるかのようなこのMele✨
これを、実際に自分が作ったPahuと共に実際にPahukiniで唱えられた時には喜びで鳥肌が立ったのを覚えています🥹

In March 1988, the Heiau “Pahukini,” which are very important in the history of Hawaii, were found in a dump site in the Kailua district of Oʻahu Island. Through the efforts of various people, the efforts of the Hawaiʻi people were finally rewarded and a celebration was held✨

Pahukini means thousands of Pahu.
This is the place where Pahu, which came to the land of Hawaiʻi, was played for the first time🙌This is a very important Heiau in history.

Many Hula Hālau were invited to this Heiau celebration, where they all played Pahu and chanted this Haʻaheo Pahukini 🥰

This chant was written by Puakea Nogelmeier.
My Kumu was playing Pahu at this time, alongside Auntie Lani, who became my Kumu Nui.

Later, with permission from Kumu Puakea, Kumu choreographed Hula noho using Pūniu and Pahu💛

Just by chanting this Mele, it’s as if the joy of the people that day wells up in my body✨
I remember getting goosebumps with joy when I was able to actually chant this on Pahukini along with the Pahu I had made🥹

朝日が昇る前からビーチに行き、登ってくる太陽に向かってチャントをする🌅深夜のʻŪnikiの儀式を終えた後、クムとʻūnikiを受けたフラシスターたちと…
この時点では私たちはまだ合否を知りません✨
合否がわかるのはʻAha Hōʻikeにて…

波が強かったのと、Kumuの脚の心配もあったので、頭をつけることはできませんでしたが、この日の朝日は一生忘れないと思います💛
素晴らしい経験を与えてくれたKumu,支えてくれたHula sistersには感謝しかありません🥰🙏

I went to the beach before the sun rises and chant toward the rising sun 🌅 after the late-night ʻŪniki ceremony with hula sisters who received ʻūniki and kumu…
At this point, we don't know whether we passed or failed✨
You can only find out whether you passed or failed at ʻAha Hōʻike...

The waves were strong and we were worried about Kumu's legs, so we weren’t able to put our head in the ocean, but I think I'll never forget the sunrise that day 💛

I would like to thank Kumu for giving me a wonderful experience and the Hula sisters for supporting me 🥰🙏

今回の大地震の被害が最小限でありますように…

A big earthquake early in the new year...I was very surprised at the scale of the damage that I saw on the news!

Those of us born in Japan are inseparably connected to earthquakes...

I believe that the role each of us plays in the world is bigger than we can imagine.

I hope the damage from this big earthquake is minimal...

何回踊っても難しいPoliʻahu😅生徒さんのリクエストでアドバンスクラスの冬の課題曲です✨
数年前に踊った時と比べて、シンプルに要点を伝えられるように踊れるようにはなったけど、まだ足りないところが沢山💦でも、今踊れる自分に感謝して、表現が変えられるようになった自分を褒めてあげようと思います🥰🙏

人生で1番綺麗だと思った星空は、このMaunakeaから見た星空…🌌✨今もこれを超える星空は見た事ないくらい、鮮明に記憶に残ってます💛

Poliʻahu is difficult no matter how many times I dance it 😅 This is the winter assignment song for the advanced class at the request of a student ✨
Compared to when I danced a few years ago, I’ve become able to dance in a way that conveys the main points more simply, but there’s still a lot of things I’m lacking in. However, I’m grateful for the fact that I can dance now, and I’ve been able to change the way I express myself. I would like to praise myself for doing so🥰🙏
